The Oneonta Gorge.

Oneonta Falls (sometimes called Lower Oneonta Falls), is a short .6 mile hike that requires overcoming a few obstacles to reach it. It’s not far from Portland either.

Stub Steward State Park, off Hwy 26 near Vernonia in the Coast Range, is well known by bicyclists and horse riders. It is less well known that it also is one of the areas closest to Portland (31 miles) to feature the truly dark skies required for good star gazing.
