SOLVE
Address:
10682 NW St Helens Rd
Portland, OR 97231
United States
Park/Trail:

Linnton Creek is a principle stream in Forest Park, one of the main trail heads in the north end of the park, and its confluence with the Willamette River will have a new lagoon, as part of the the 27 acre Linnton Plywood Mill site's restoration as animal habitat (a Superfund mitigation site). We are restoring the creek trail head, removing ivy and blackberry, planting natives, and installing an interpretive sign, trash can and custom (and amusing) dog waste bag dispenser designed by noted artist Ivan McLean. Part of a broad effort to eliminate dog waste from the park, this site is particularly important as the creek will flow into a new lagoon designed as a resting place for salmon fry, where clean water will be crucial. At the moment the main effort is ivy removal and the planting of almost 300 native plants. Hot and cold beverages, pastries, tools and gloves are provided. We'll be having a celebration of the project's completion in June. Activities include: Invasive Plant Removal, Native Planting.

The Intertwine Alliance, City of Lake Oswego Parks, City of Milwaukie, City of West Linn Parks, Clackamas Soil & Water Conservation District, Clackamas County Urban Green, Clackamas River Basin Council, Metro an North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District

This spring of 2016, instead of one big summit, The Intertwine Alliance is convening four county summits to strengthen sub-regional relationships, celebrate successes and build for the future.

All welcome.

This countywide summit will gather professionals, advocates and all other stakeholders committed to a greener and more nature-filled Clackamas County in order to find common ground – to celebrate regional successes, learn what’s happening in the sub-region, and build a shared vision for future action.

Join us to be inspired by some significant local collaborations and to use the brain power in the room to begin solving our challenges collectively.

View agenda.

The summit will include:

  • Stories of successful local collaborations
  • An interactive mapping exercise to locate projects around the county, connect projects, identify gaps and envision future projects
  • Identification of shared values and development of a collective countywide vision for parks, trails and natural areas
  • Networking with peers, friends and new acquaintances who share this work

Please RSVP here no later than Thursday, May 12. Questions? Please email Lauren at lauren@theintertwine.org.

You'll stay engaged with a mix of networking, presentations, table discussions and group voting.

Cary Simmons, Parks for People - Northwest Program Manager with the Trust for Public Land, will give a 30-minute presentation about "The Importance of Nature, Parks & Recreation."
