Interested in planting trees? Meeting some neat people? Obtaining a few service learning hours? Then please join us to plant trees and native shrubs in this community park!

Please arrive by 8:45am to enjoy some hot coffee and breakfast treats and get assigned a crew. The planting starts promptly at 9:00am. We provide gloves and tools, so all you need to do is show up dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes or boots.

This project is supported with funding from Clackamas County Water Environment Services, on behalf of Clackamas Service District No. 1.

Tranquil Park is a 4.5 acre green space in Wilsonville. The City of Wilsonville and Friends of Trees are working to restore a healthy, native understory and plant later-succession conifers like Hemlock and Cedar. We will be planting native trees and shrubs as well as removing ivy and other invasive plants from the area.

You are invited to take part in this rewarding and enriching opportunity at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteer Naturalists welcome students, accompany field trips, help facilitate opportunistic learning, and conduct a select number of lessons. During the winter training, volunteers will gain skills in interpretation, environmental education, working with children, and they will learn about the history of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. The four-session training will take place on Thursdays from 9am-3pm: February 28th, March 7th, March 14th, and March 21st.
Volunteer Naturalist training is free, but registration is required.

Plant Trees along the I-205 Multi-Use Path in NE Portland with Friends of Trees!

This is our first event along the I-205 Multi-Use Path this season -- please join us! Please arrive around 8:45am to allow time for a short walk to the planting area and to be registered and assigned to a crew. The planting will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes and get ready to have fun!

 

We will be planting a few replacement trees and re-mulching previously planted trees. We are very excited to continue reforesting the transportation corridor that runs from the Columbia River in the North to the City of Gladstone in the south.

 

Metro, ODOT, BES and EMSWCD are partnering with Friends of Trees to increase livability, habitat and air quality along the I-205 corridor.

Join or lead a Tree Care Team in 2013!

Learn tree care skills while helping to improve the health and productivity of urban fruit trees!

Each Tree Care Team will care for a cluster of PFTP-registered fruit trees, visiting each tree once per season to complete the full spectrum of care. Each team is instructed & guided by two 'Team Leaders' with experience and skills in organic fruit tree care. This is a unique opportunity to develop strong skills in organic fruit tree care, meet new people, and care for trees providing food to your community!

Members and Leaders will participate in ten 3-hour work-parties over an 11-month period (January-November, 2013). Topics/tasks will include: Winter & Summer Pruning, Young Tree Training & Care, Pest & Disease Management, Fruit Thinning, and more.
