Kid's Nature Night Out
A great chance for parents to have a night out while the kids get to experience the Nature Park in a way few others ever do.  Gather in the Interpretive Center, have dinner (pizza and veggies), then head out into the Park after dark to explore and look for wildlife. No flashlights needed! Suitable for ages 6-12 years. Advanced registration required; call 503/629-6350. $25 per patron, in-district. An assessment fee will be charged to out-of-district patrons.

Newts are fascinating animals. Learn all about their unique characteristics as we discuss unking, metamorphosis and toxic secretions. Head out into the park to hunt for newts on the trail and under logs.

Mammals are a diverse group of animals.  Ranging in size from one inch to 108 feet, they can be found on land, sea and in the air.  Learn what mammals live in the park, and make a bandana tracking guide to wear on hikes.

Hoots and howls aren't the only ways that animals talk to each other. Besides sound, animals use other ways to send messages including body language, dancing and scent marking. Learn how they do it and practice communicating as they do - without our voices!

How in the world do all the animals in the park talk with each other?  From frogs calling, coyotes howling and birds singing, each animal has their own way of talking.  We will use our ears to try to listen to the sounds coming from the park!
