Seattle Greenways Tour

2012 Summer Study Trip to Portland Oregon Hosted by Seattle Neighborhood Greenways

Over thirty Seattleites spent the weekend of August 11th and 12th touring Portland neighborhoods collecting information on green streets and innovative stormwater management, Portland's street design standards, and The Intertwine Alliance.  From 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 11th the Alliance's board member and Director of the Urban Greenspaces Institute Mike Houck; Linda Dosbon, Portland Bureau of Environmental Services' innovative stormwater program; Jerry Norquist, Director of Cycle Oregon, and Lake McTighe, Metro Active Transportation program led a tour of neighborhood greenways with an eye toward The Intertwine Alliance's active transportation work and the city's innovative stormwater management program.   Houck accompanied a second tour, led by Portland Bureau of Transportation's Greg Raisman, which focused on "Sharrows" and other bicycle-friendly street design.
