Mill Park Neighborhood Cleanup

In this event we will be cleaning up trash along the streets in the Mill Park neighborhood area. We will begin at Floyd Light City Park at the end of SE Yamhill St, and our coverage from there will be between SE Alder St and SE Salmon St, and SE 111th St and 117th St. Since this event takes place the day after Halloween, families and children are encouraged to participate in the cleanup in their Halloween costumes! At the end of the event we plan on holding a costume contest for the kids (with prizes!). This goal of this cleanup is not only to pick up candy wrappers and other trash, but to create connections between residents of this neighborhood and provide a fun, helpful activity for kids and adults alike. Bring your bike and your friends for a tour of Portland's levee system! The Multnomah County Drainage Districts and the Columbia Slough Watershed Council will lead this 15-mile trip on easy terrain. We'll be on a mix of dedicated pedestrian path, bike lanes and short distances of shoulder riding. A portion of this ride will be on the scenic Columbia Slough Trail. Join the Weed Warrior effort to restore a healthy habitat at Mt. Tabor Park. The Weed Warrior Stewardship Coordinator and volunteer crew leaders will share their knowledge of the natural habitat, demonstrate how to remove non-native vegetation, and help keep us organized, safe and motivated! We will make sure that you are comfortable and contribute in ways that match your skills and interests. Wear comfortable clothes that are appropriate for working in natural areas: long pants, long sleeves, brimmed hat to protect from sun/rain, and closed-toe sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle. Polish the Pearl (PDNA)

Join neighbors and friends for a fall neighborhood clean-up of the Pearl District! Volunteers meet at Peet's Coffee to check in, receive a free cup of coffee, get a street assignment, pick up supplies, and head out into the neighborhood to pick up litter. After the event, volunteers turn in supplies and receive a treat as recognition for their clean-up efforts. Stick around for a special bike raffle! All supplies are provided, such as safety vests, gloves, trash pickers, brooms, trash bags, etc. Just register for the event online, show up, and be prepared to have a fun time! Check-in starts at 8:30 AM. Teams leave at 9 AM and meet in the northern Pearl at 11:30 AM. The event will happen rain or shine - be sure to dress for the weather. Minors under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Polish the Pearl is a bi-annual event organized by the Pearl District Neighborhood Association (PDNA) Livability and Safety Committee.
