That's why the Clackamas County Water Environment Services (WES), Clackamas River Basin Council (CRBC) and SOLVE have joined forces to get you involved in improving water quality and fish habitat in Rock Creek. Take advantage of the rare opportunity to explore this beautiful natural area at a key juncture where it flows into the Clackamas River, normally closed to the public, for a day of education and exploration. Participants will tour new in-stream construction and restoration work, and engage in hands-on learning at four education stations on soil, water quality, fish habitat and plant care. Donuts provided! The Rock Creek Confluence Project was funded by Clackamas County Water Environment Services, Metro's 2006 Natural Areas bond measure, Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, The Nature Conservancy's PGE Habitat Fund, and the Clackamas River Basin Council's Shade Our Streams program.

Science says that volunteering increases your feelings of well being! Join us!

Restoring headwater habitat, the habitat at the source of a river or stream, is an important part of the waterway restoration process. Wilkes Creek flows into the Columbia Slough, so its protection is part of a greater effort to keep the Slough healthy. We'll plant native plants and protect them with mulch. We'll also care for previously planted plants by weeding and mulching and removing invasive species like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry.

Students in our SERVE (Students Engaged in Restoring Vital Ecosystems) program have adopted this site for their field science experience. Parents and students are encouraged to visit the site again during this event!

This event runs rain or shine! Be sure to dress for the weather and bring water, rain gear and sturdy shoes. Snacks, tools, training and gloves will be provided.
