Sixteen years ago, forest defenders began fighting to keep the Forest Service from clear cutting great swaths of land at the Eagle Creek Timber Sale, near Estacada. Ten years ago, they succeeded in stopping this sale, changing the shape of forest policy in the Mt. Hood National Forest.
Today forest defenders are still fighting to preserve the forests of Mt. Hood—only this time, we’re challenging the misleadingly named “restoration thinning projects.”
Join Bark, defenders of Mt Hood Natinal Forest on July 25th to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the victory of Eagle Creek, and learn why we believe “restoration thinning” is not restoration at all, but instead a detriment to the forest ecosystem and all the life it supports. The discussion will be led by Brenna Bell, Bark Staff Attorney.
