Description: Oregon's turtles are rare, shy and hard to find, but Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area is home to one of the largest populations of Western painted turtles in Oregon. See these beautiful reptiles with the help of a Metro naturalist, who will have spotting scopes for a close look. Learn about the natural history of painted turtles and handle and examine shells of specimens found there.
