Friends of Trees is seeking new Crew Leaders for the upcoming October-April planting season! Being a Crew Leader is a great way to meet people, develop valuable leadership skills and, of course, learn how to plant trees the right way.

Crew Leaders are one of our most important volunteer roles as they help teach our volunteers how to plant trees and work together as a team. During our planting season, each crew leader commits to guiding small groups of planters at four Saturday morning plantings throughout the planting season. We have almost 70 public planting events scheduled this season.

You'll wear a Friends of Trees vest at weekend plantings and receive the respect and admiration of the volunteers on your crew, as well as receive a coveted Tree Team t-shirt and great food (a hallmark of all of our planting events).

Spread seed in Sandy and help put the "tickle" in Tickle Creek. The Clackamas River Basin Council has partnered with the Oregon Department of State Lands and the City of Sandy to improve the Sandy Wetlands along Tickle Creek. To date, we've planted over 1,500 native trees, shrubs, and wetland plants. These native plants will help filter runoff from nearby neighborhoods before it flows into the nearby creek. We'll be hard at work again on Saturday, November 1st from 9 am to noon planting native wetland species and spreading seed. Join us for this family-friendly event!

Gloves, tools, first aid, water, plants, and instruction provided. Please be sure to dress appropriately for all weather conditions and terrain. You may want to bring your favorite work gloves, waterproof boots, rain jacket, water bottle, long plants and long sleeve shirt. All volunteers must sign a waiver.

Directions: Traveling NE on Hwy 211, turn right on Dubarko Rd., then right onto Jacoby Rd. (395th Ave.). Travel .01 miles. Wetland is on left side of road. VIEW MAP.

All ages and abilities welcome. Fun for groups, families and individuals. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.

We provide: Tools, gloves, hot cocoa, coffee and snacks.

What to bring: Water bottle, snack, extra clothing, shoes for the ride home, and camera or binoculars if desired.

What to wear: Dress for the weather; clothes may get wet and muddy. Long sleeves, pants, rain gear and sturdy shoes or boots are recommended.

What to expect: Estuary Partnership staff will distribute tools and gloves and demonstrate planting techniques. Volunteers will be planting for approximately 2 1/2 hours. The planting site is in close proximity to bathrooms, sheltered picnic tables and parking.

Make a difference while having fun and exploring Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Help plant trees to benefit the local habitat of Gibbons Creek and the wildlife at the refuge.

All ages and abilities welcome. Fun for groups, families and individuals. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.

We provide: Tools, gloves, hot cocoa, coffee and snacks.

What to bring: Water bottle, snack, extra clothing, shoes for the ride home, and camera or binoculars if desired.

What to wear: Dress for the weather; clothes may get wet and muddy. Long sleeves, pants, rain gear and sturdy shoes or boots are recommended.

What to expect: Estuary Partnership staff will check in volunteers in the main parking lot, distribute gloves and tools. The group will walk to the planting site on a level path for approximately fifteen minutes. A staff member will demonstrate planting techniques and discuss safety. Volunteers will be planting for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
