Communications/Our Common Ground Campaign

Here in The Intertwine, we know that our environmental challenges are complex and deep-rooted. Without a coordinated approach, this complexity can hinder our ability to communicate urgency, solutions and other important ecological information. That’s why Our Common Ground campaign aims to distill powerful regional messages and get our sector speaking with a unified voice. Learn more about Our Common Ground campaign.

November 2014 -- The Intertwine Plant Off on Saturday, Nov. 1, was a smashing success. Two teams of youth organizers led tree-planting events at Dirksen Nature Park and Blue Lake Park. Members of the Sugar Skulls on the west side, and the Green Team on the east, received real-world job experience (and pay) for their participation -- along with a free pair of KEENs each!

September 2014 -- The Daycation App, a tool The Intertwine Alliance and partners are developing to inspire engagement with our region’s natural spaces, parks and trails, recently received significant funding -- $150,000 -- from Waste Management. Two app committees are meeting regularly: one focusing on content development, the other on the technical aspects of the app. Developers Harlo Interactive and Frank Creative gave an update of the app's features to the Core Group at the September meeting.

September 2014 -- The tree-planting project that was part of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) grant that The Intertwine Alliance received in 2013 is well under way with two teams of teens recruiting community volunteers to participate; they will give a report at the fall summit on Nov 14.
