Jan. 6, 2015 | Portland, OR -- "How We Get There Matters," an Intertwine Alliance Regional Active Transportation Forum, is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Portland State University's Native American Student and Community Center.
The event is free and open to the public.
An ever-increasing body of research confirms the direct connection between transportation options and job growth, economic vitality, and human and environmental health. Yet many transportation conversations dismiss walking and bicycling as local concerns that have little regional impact. Is this the case? What criteria should be used when determining if a transportation project is of regional or statewide significance?
Participate in a discussion about different ways to define “projects of regional significance” and help develop answers that could guide future investments in transportation. The forum is designed to generate engaging, ongoing consideration of the importance of active transportation, parks and trails.
The event is sponsored by Metro, the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, and Portland State University's Initiative for Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation.
