Avoid logs in the water and marine mammals, and never turn your back to the ocean! Hauling, disposal and recycling services donated by Recology Western Oregon (formerly Western Oregon Waste). Recycling will be prvided by the Oregon Beverage Recycling Company

From Hwy 101 South, take the Sunset Blvd exit into Cannon Beach. At the "T" turn right onto Hemlock St. and then right on Gower St. Registration is in the parking lot of Cannon Beach City Hall. The beach area to be cleaned up extends from Ecola State Park to Arch Cape. Meet at the registration table in the upper parking lot of City Hall. Bathrooms are located to the west, across Hemlock.

Head to the Brookings Rest Area between milepost 355 and 356. From Hwy 101 take the right turn lane for Northbound, and left turn lane for Southbound. Drive through the rest area loop to the back side of loop, look for signs, dumpster and park staff.

Can you find what doesn't belong? Join Oregon State Parks and Washed Ashore at the Bandon City Park's gazebo on Saturday, March 22nd, 2014 from 10 AM - 1 PM to see what you can find that doesn't belong on our beautiful ocean beaches.  Please bring clothing appropriate for the weather, a reusable water bottle and an old colander to sift the small plastics and such out of the sand.  SOLVE and its partners will provide gloves and bags. Washed Ashore and Oregon State Parks will pass out supplies, assist with filling out paperwork and haul away all the items you bring back that don't  belong on our beaches. Washed Ashore will be taking the debris to use in their next sculptures. You can help by keeping glass, sanitary and other non-usable items in a separate bag from most plastics if possible. Please remember our ocean shores can be dangerous. Please do not climb on logs that have any water around them and never turn your back on the ocean. Hauling, disposal and recycling services donated by Bandon Transfer and Recycling.

Dabney Spring Riverside Cleanup

Love the Sandy River?  Help protect its wildlife and scenic places by volunteering for the Spring Riverside Cleanup.  Join rangers, rain or shine, in picking up litter along Dabney State Park's shoreline.  While you're there, keep an eye out for herons, raccoons, and beaver as you work; then, play a round of disc golf or visit the Gorge's many waterfalls afterwards!  All tools and gloves provided; just bring snacks, water, and a friend. Activities include: Litter Cleanup.

Women in Science Day provides a great opportunity for young women in grades 6-12 in our community to learn about careers and opportunities from successful women in the field of science. We will begin the day at Heritage Park in Beaverton with breakfast and a presentation on science careers as well as a chance for the girls to discuss careers and opportunities with the mentors. Following the breakfast session, we will walk out to Willow Creek to plant trees and shrubs as a part of our stream restoration project. What better way to learn about the opportunities in the field of science that await young women in our community than hearing about them from women in those fields?

Make the most of a soggy Saturday and learn to build a rain garden! A rain garden is a sunken garden bed that captures stormwater and allows it to soak back into the ground naturally. Part of a larger effort to reduce stormwater runoff and pollution from entering local waterways, this workshop provides step-by-step details on how to decide the best size & placement, which plants to choose, and how to build and maintain your new rain garden!
