Clackamas River Basin Council
Address:
595 NW Industrial Way
Estacada, OR 97222

This most striking viewpoint features a dropoff of some 3400 feet and views from Mount Jefferson to Hood.

The final goal is a narrow fractured outcrop with cliffs on three sides. The Clackamas Basin below this viewpoint is at its broadest in the upper Clackamas. The hike follows flatter terrain except for the final lift to the viewpoint. Distance is 4+ miles and total gain is about 625 feet. High Point of 5015 ft. This trail is very old but now little used.

Bring plenty of water, a camera, bug spray, and a lunch. Be aware that temperatures in the upper watershed are cooler than down below, and wear appropriate footwear.  RSVP to attend by emailing Becki at Rebecca@clackamasriver.org or calling 503-303-4372.

Address:
PO Box 1869
Clackamas, OR 97015
United States

Visit the under-appreciated but spectacular highlands of the Olallie Scenic Area. This area underwent sheet glaciation rather than valley glaciation, resulting in flatter terrain and so many lakes that many have never been named.

Highlights include wide-ranging views with the glaciers of Mount Jefferson only 9 miles distant, glacial striationsin bedrock, wildflowers, and mixed woodlands with  meadows, lakes and cliffs.

The moderate hike of 5.6 miles has a 900 ft. elevation gain on a gentle up and down route. High Point of 5320 ft.

Pollination Celebration on Sauvie Island

Saturday, June 23, 2012 - 10:00am to 3:00pm
Sauvie Island Center
Address:
Portland, OR
United States

Join us as we celebrate National Pollinator Week. What is pollination? Why is it an important part of the food web? What kinds of insects and animals facilitate the pollination process? All these questions and more will be answered when you attend the Pollination Celebration on Saturday, June 23rd from 10 am to noon at Howell Territorial Park on Sauvie Island.

We’ll search for pollinators in and around the native hedgerow on the Sauvie Island Organics farm. Using our looking glasses, we’ll get a closer look at pollen on a variety of plants and see how bees gather pollen. We’ll even make Mason Bee Houses to take home and participate in a honey tasting. Don’t forget a picnic to enjoy after the event.

Venue Details:
Take Highway 30 north past Linnton to the Sauvie Island Bridge. Cross the bridge, proceed north approximately 1 mile and turn right onto Howell Park Road.
Cost:
The fee for the Pollination Celebration is $10 per family.
