FREE LUNCH! LIVE MUSIC!

Come make a difference with the StreamTeam on Saturday, October 22!

Not only will we come together as a community to celebrate the volunteer spirit but we will also plant hundreds of native trees. Each tree will do its part to clean the air that we breathe, the water we drink and provide habitat for the animals we enjoy. Be prepared to have a good time, get your hands dirty, meet new people, and make a difference in our community!

No experience is necessary. We will provide morning refreshments plus all of the training and tools. Breakfast is being donated by Kroger and Starbucks.  Lunch is generously being provided by Chipotle, Corwin Beverage, Frito Lay, and Twin Star Credit Union.  And a special thanks to Waste Connections for helping keep our event sustainable with recycling and composting services.

3010 SE Oxbow Parkway
Gresham, OR 97080

Nothing says "Pacific Northwest" like the annual return from the ocean of the salmon, fighting upstream to spawn and die in the rivers of their birth.  In October, witness this ancient, iconic phenomenon at Oxbow Regional Park along the Sandy River, one of the nation's designated Wild and Scenic rivers.  During the annual Salmon Homecoming, naturalists are on hand to help you see the salmon and explore other aspects of the park's 1,000 acres of old-growth forest, hiking and equestrian trails and river beaches.  Take the chill off around the campfire.  Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or cider around the campfire.  Guaranteed to take the chill off and lift your spirits for a walk in the autumn woods.

Join naturalists at the river's edge.  They'll help you spot spawning salmon and tell you about the salmon's behavior and life cycle.  Borrow a pair of polarized fish-viewing glasses onsite.

Investing in a Green Future

Wednesday, September 7, 2016 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm
The Intertwine Alliance

Cleaner air. Cleaner water. Preservation of natural habitats. Future stewards.

Three measures appearing on the ballot this November are of particular interest to many Intertwine Alliance partners and friends. Supporters, now is the time to step up and take action!

  • A measure to create a permanent funding base for the Tualatin Soil and Water Conversation District will support programs to improve air, water and soil quality, community education programs and healthy habitats by removing invasive species.

  • Measure 26-178, Protect Our Natural Areas, preserves our region’s legacy of protecting natural areas and water quality, restoring fish and wildlife, and connecting people with nature. Voters in the Metro region will be asked to renew the 2013 parks and natural areas levy this November, helping to protect 17,000 acres of parks, trails and natural areas without raising taxes. The levy supports Metro's Nature in Neighborhoods program, which benefits so many Intertwine partners.

  • Measure 99, Outdoor School for All, will give every Oregon fifth and sixth-grader a hands-on week of science-based, outdoor education to get kids off their screens, build self-confidence and self-reliance, strengthen leadership and collaborative skills, and connect them with Oregon’s great outdoors.

As a service to our many partners who support these efforts, The Intertwine Alliance is hosting Investing for a Green Future, a gathering to celebrate the work and to set a direction for success. Please join us for an evening of fun, learning and strategizing! There'll be hors d'oeuvres and wine/beer, loads of important campaign information, and plenty of time to socialize.

RSVP here!

Washington County Summit

Monday, October 3, 2016 - 1:00pm to 6:00pm
The Intertwine Alliance

The Intertwine Alliance continues its 2016 series of county summits with Investing in Nature for Healthier Communities in Washington County.

Join us for a look at the many ways nature keeps our communities thriving. It'll be a chance to find out about the range of efforts going on in the county supporting the health-nature vision, along with ways to connect your organization or programs to the work. Former Kaiser Permanente pediatrician and Intertwine Alliance Board Member Dr. Phil Wu will give a keynote address about the latest evidence supporting nature-based positive health outcomes. Attendees will be inspired, in the Innovation Cafe session, by projects going on in the county that are coming up with creative solutions to long-standing challenges.

And, as always, there'll be a social hour to connect with peers and new individuals/groups interested in working collaboratively in our region.

Protect Our Natural Areas campaign kick-off

Thursday, July 28, 2016 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm
The Intertwine Alliance

A coalition of business leaders, conservationists, elected officials and community advocates have formed the Protect Our Natural Areas committee to encourage a YES vote on the Metro levy renewal before the region’s voters on the ballot this November. This measure, referred to voters by the Metro Council, will protect wildlife habitat, support cleaner air and water, and improve opportunities in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties to connect our communities to nature -- all without raising existing taxes.

Please join us for a celebratory evening to launch the campaign. Now's the time to mobilize!

For more about the levy, visit protectournaturalareas.com.
