Here's your chance to learn how to make a difference in your community!

Join SOLVE on Saturday, June 29th at the Gresham Library (10:30 am - 4:30 pm) for a free, hands-on workshop and learn how to envision & lead successful volunteer projects to improve the environment in your community. Receive the training you need to organize a volunteer project to remove invasive plants from your favorite natural area, plant native trees in your local park, or pickup trash at your special beach!

Participants will learn the basics of watershed restoration and how to plan and lead a successful volunteer project. Specific topics include volunteer recruitment and management, project logistics and safety, preventing volunteer burnout, working with the media, and fundraising. The training is free for anyone that leads a SOLVE project within one year of the training.

Without these efforts these newly planted natives would have a lower survival rate through their first season. Meet great new people, learn tree skills, and make a difference in just a few hours!

At Friends of Trees we always provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee for all of our volunteers. Please arrive by 8:45am dressed for the weather and wearing boots or sturdy shoes. Help us plant a few trees and care for ones previously planted along the I-205 Multi-Use Path to help them make it through the warm summer months! Please join us at 8:45am to be registered and assigned to a crew. This event will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes and get ready to have fun!

We are very excited to continue reforesting the transportation corridor that runs from the Columbia River in the North to the City of Gladstone in the south. Metro, ODOT, BES and EMSWCD are partnering with Friends of Trees to increase livability, habitat and air quality along the I-205 corridor.

Earth Day with the Columbia Slough Watershed Council!

Calling on all families in the watershed to come out for our Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 20th! It will be a day to celebrate the natural areas in the Columbia Slough Watershed. 

On the 20th, we will be at multiple sites, including Whitaker Ponds Nature Park, Conifer Parks and Force Lake. Starting at 10:00, we will be learning about the watershed, doing work at our site and ending at around 1:00. 

Depending on which site you head out to, you will be picking up garbage, pulling invasive plants or planting native plants. 

Arrive early for coffee and light snacks. All equipment will be provided. Remember to dress with the possibility of rain and mud.

SOLVE's annual statewide event, SOLVE IT, presented by Portland General Electric, will take place on Saturday, April 20th from 9 am - 1 pm at over 200 volunteer projects across the state. Additional projects take place the week before and week after the Saturday event.
