Washington County Summit

Monday, October 3, 2016 - 1:00pm to 6:00pm
The Intertwine Alliance

The Intertwine Alliance continues its 2016 series of county summits with Investing in Nature for Healthier Communities in Washington County.

Join us for a look at the many ways nature keeps our communities thriving. It'll be a chance to find out about the range of efforts going on in the county supporting the health-nature vision, along with ways to connect your organization or programs to the work. Former Kaiser Permanente pediatrician and Intertwine Alliance Board Member Dr. Phil Wu will give a keynote address about the latest evidence supporting nature-based positive health outcomes. Attendees will be inspired, in the Innovation Cafe session, by projects going on in the county that are coming up with creative solutions to long-standing challenges.

And, as always, there'll be a social hour to connect with peers and new individuals/groups interested in working collaboratively in our region.

RSVP here by Sept. 28.

Protect Our Natural Areas campaign kick-off

Thursday, July 28, 2016 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm
The Intertwine Alliance

A coalition of business leaders, conservationists, elected officials and community advocates have formed the Protect Our Natural Areas committee to encourage a YES vote on the Metro levy renewal before the region’s voters on the ballot this November. This measure, referred to voters by the Metro Council, will protect wildlife habitat, support cleaner air and water, and improve opportunities in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties to connect our communities to nature -- all without raising existing taxes.

Please join us for a celebratory evening to launch the campaign. Now's the time to mobilize!

For more about the levy, visit protectournaturalareas.com.

Join Portland's Surfrider Foundation volunteers for the Northside Green Streets! Green Streets is a partnership between the City of Portland and the local Surfrider chapter that aims to keep our streets clean and our local bioswales healthy. Bioswales are those cool mini wetland garden thingies cut into the edge of many streets in town. Our Green Street Stewards, volunteer to clean up litter out of these swales and along the side of the road. This keeps litter out of our local watersheds, and since everything flows downstream, keeps litter out of our oceans. It's a great way to act locally, and make impacts globally! The Surfrider Crew leader will make this volunteer event a fun night to remember, with some cool tunes and sweet treats. Come join us as we work together to keep our waterways clean.
