Volunteer at southwest Washington's premiere birding destination! Help plant and protect native trees while enjoying the beauty of the Refuge. All work days are from 9 am to 12:30 pm rain or shine. Wear waterproof footwear, bring gloves, and dress for the weather. Light refreshments and hot drinks will be provided. Have you ever tried to identify a plant without its leaves in the dead of winter? With a few simple tips, you can identify native trees and shrubs on your next walk through the woods this season. Sage Jensen, a native plant expert, will teach you to use different features like color, texture, and leaf scars to identify plants without their leaves. This training will start out in the classroom followed by an outdoor walk so you can practice identifying winter twigs. Space is limited so please register today!

Celebrate MLK Day by Planting Trees in Atfalati Park (Tualatin) with Friends of Trees!

Do you like the idea of giving back and making it a "day on" instead of a day off?  Then please consider joining Friends of Trees as we restore Atfalati Park!  Arrive at 8:45am to be registered and assigned to a crew. The planting will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes or boots and get ready to have fun!

This event is in partnership with the City of Tualatin and Clean Water Services.

RSVPs are not required (although we do appreciate knowing about groups larger than 5 members).  Please contact Andy or Jenny at (503) 595-0213 if you have any questions or need more information. We look forward to seeing you out there!

Plantings are great for kids and adults alike!
