True urban adventure is just one adrenaline-driven canoe trip away. At over 2,200 acres, the site is actually a small archipelago of islands in the Columbia River anchored by massive, elongated Government Island in the center and surrounded by the much smaller Tri Club and Lemon Islands to the west and McGuire and Ackerman Islands to the east. It is accessible by boat only. There are two docks and a floating tie-up on the north side of the main island. With 15 miles of shoreline, the park is popular with anglers.
This park has great Trillium beds in the spring, a flowing creek year-round, a forested one-mile and 1/2 mile trail loop with bridge crossings, and several micro-environments that are worth exploring. Picnic tables, drinking fountains and a "mushroom house" add flavor to this park. Because it is adjacent to the McMinnville Municipal Airport, park visitors can catch a glimpse of local airplanes taking off and landing on nearby runways. Portable restroom at trailhead. Dogs must remain leashed.
This 87-acre park has two small creeks and offers paved and soft-surface trails meandering through open and wooded areas.
This lush 120-acre regional park is located on the Columbia River about two miles west of Vancouver Lake Regional Park, and features a wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities -- including beach volleyball, several playgrounds, water access for paddlers, picnic facilities, and wildlife viewing on the river.
