Join Oregon State Parks and others stewards by volunteering to spruce up Mayer State Park! By picking up litter and pulling invasive plant species we help ensure a clean and beautiful Oregon for all and can call ourselves true Oregonians. Following the clean up stay around for some fun in the Park. We will have coffee/coco, snacks, and offer kayak tours (as available) after we all do our part to keep Mayer State Park beautiful. Activities include: Invasive Plant Removal, Litter Cleanup.

The City of Seaside, Seaside Downtown Development Association, and Beach Drive Buccaneers invite you to join with us in cleaning up marine debris on our favorite Oregon Beach. Organized cleanups will take place, rain or shine, the first Saturday of every month. Sign in at The Seashore Inn on the Beach, 60 N. Prom, Seaside, get your bag, and, when done, drop it in a trash receptacle along the Prom. Stay the day and enjoy our shops and restaurants.

Help a child experience the wonder of the outdoors with Columbia Slough Watershed Council! If you enjoy time in the outdoors and working with children, this is a great opportunity for you!

The Position: Slough School education volunteers assist with stewardship projects (native plantings, mulching, invasive species removal), water quality investigations, and natural history tours for students in the Slough School program. Volunteers first take on a shadowing role observing a staff educator and assisting with behavior monitoring and group management. Once volunteers establish familiarity with the flow of programming, they have the opportunity to lead activities and experiment with teaching/communication styles.

Slough School: Slough School is the K-12 education program of the Columbia Slough Watershed council.  It serves students who reside within and/or attend school within the boundaries of the Columbia Slough Watershed in North and North East Portland. Slough School students participate in classroom programs, field science experiences, and service learning projects. Volunteers primarily serve during our elementary field science experiences, many of which take place the Whitaker Ponds Nature park in NE Portland.

Your commitment:  The Council requests weekly volunteering during the Fall season (October - December). Volunteers will have the opportunity to select a consistent weekday to meet this requirement. Volunteers will have the option of continuing on into the Winter season (January - March).

Volunteer Interviews: All volunteer must complete an informal interview over the phone or in person. Fall season interviews will take place Wednesday, September 25th through Friday, September 27th.

Join us in our Habitat Enhancement work party! In this party, we are meeting next to the Hope Community Church to clear out invasive species along Springbrook Creek's riparian area. There will be plenty of snacks, beverages and tools! By working along one of the Lake's largest tributaries, this is a great opportunity to help restore native species and improve ecological resiliency within the watershed. Together, we will do great things! Activities include: Invasive Plant Removal, Native Planting, Education, Having Fun.

Help care for rare native seeds, bulbs and plant materials that support regional restoration projects. Fall activities include harvesting and planting native bulbs, cleaning seeds and transplanting seedlings. No experience is needed. Gloves, tools, water and snack provided. This event is wheelchair accessible with advance arrangements.
