Engage With The Alliance

It takes hearts, hands and minds to build The Intertwine’s 3,000 square miles of parks, trails and natural areas. This is the work of The Intertwine Alliance—a unique coalition of 130+ public, private and nonprofit organizations in the Portland/Vancouver region.

Through the organizing framework of Collective Impact, we identify priority work areas, set goals and guide progress.

Focus areas we're working in include Active Transportation, Conservation Education, Conservation, Economic Development, Equity, Health & Nature, Public Engagement/Our Common Ground Campaign, Youth Engagement, Urban Forestry and the Regional System of Parks, Trails and Natural Areas.

September 2014 -- The Environmental Education Association of Oregon received a $100,000, 2-year grant to fund a Regional Environmental Education Coordinator who will have a direct connection with The Intertwine Alliance's Conservation Education Initiative. Discussions in the fall will better flesh out the details of how this might work.

September 2014 -- The Intertwine Alliance Nature Play Working Group’s symposium and related activities all went well in early September. One event was a “swarm," a brainstorming session to see how we can best move a larger collaborative effort forward, with about 20 people in attendance. The Alliance offered to play a lead role in facilitating and promoting this effort.

September 2014 -- The Equity Inclusion Committee met on Sept. 25 to finish drafting a proposed Intertwine Alliance Equity Plan. The next step is to forward it to the Board for approval. The plan identifies a number of programs and activities for Intertwine Alliance staff, board members and partners, with the goal of developing a more inclusive sector.
