Mason Bee Cocoon Cleaning Workshop
This workshop provides a quick overview of mason bees and their most common pest, the Krombein mite (also known as the pollen mite). Attendees are encouraged to bring in their mason bee nesting devices to work on extracting the cocoons and cleaning them with a dry sand process. Mason bee nesting trays used at Jackson Bottom Wetlands will also be available for attendees to clean so that they can get a hands on experience of what is involved in this important step in raising mason bees.
