Pfeifer Ridge Planting in Happy Valley

You are invited to join the Clackamas River Basin Council and Pfeifer Ridge Homeowner's Association for a community planting party on Saturday, December 5th from 9 am - 12 pm in Happy Valley! Help improve watershed health by gifting Sieben Creek with native trees and shrubs.

How to sign up: RSVP with MORGAN@CLACKAMASRIVER.ORG or 503-303-4372 x101. All volunteers must sign a waiver release form. This is a family-friendly event for all ages.

Where to meet/directions: Nearest address is 13735 SE Almond Drive, Clackamas, OR 97015. Look for bridge/retaining wall between 139th Avenue and Napoli Terrace, park along street.

What to bring: Favorite work gloves, rubber boots, and wear outdoor apparel. Refreshments will be provided.

Phillips Creek December Community Planting Day

Phillips Creek, located near 82nd ave and the Clackamas Town Center Mall has been a SOLVE site for the past eight years. The creek historically has been a dumping ground and largely ignored by the community. Volunteers have removed tires, shopping carts, furniture, and plastics. With the help of La Salle HS Green Team students and community volunteers the creek is being revived. Volunteers will be planting native plants near the new Monterey Ave road extension.

PCC Rock Creek December Community Planting Day

The PCC-Rock Creek Campus includes a 110 acre wildlife preserve. This beautiful area of oaks, wetlands and upland Douglas Fir forest is the site of extensive restoration work by PCC teachers and students as well as Clean Water Services. SOLVE is working with the campus community to enhance approximately 5 acres of wetlands and bottomland forests. Volunteers will be planting native plants, coffee bagging, and mulching.

Trillium Creek December Community Planting Day

Mt. Scott Community Planting Day

The site in Happy Valley follows the Mt Scott Creek stream corridor and Mt Scott Creek trail for approximately 500ft. Mt Scott Creek is home to native fish. Large cedar trees are numerous but English ivy and other weeds have invaded the stream corridor. With most of the weeds removed volunteers will be planting native trees and shrubs, including salmonberry and indian plum. Volunteers will also be mulching and removing remnant patches of English ivy. Native plants help shade the stream, prevent erosion and improve fish and wildlife habitat.

Council Creek December Community Planting Day

Council Creek is home to beaver, Red-shouldered hawks, crayfish and native fish. Volunteers will be planting this 6 acre wetland restoration site with native willow, Oregon ash, as well as native shrubs including red-osier dogwood and douglas spirea.Volunteers will also be installing coffee bags as weed barriers, placing mice guards around trees, and mulching. Native plants will help to filter stormwater, and support fish and wildlife habitat.

Winter Twig Identification Workshop

Volunteers will be able to identify 30 native trees and shrubs via winter twig identification.The class is taught by Sage Jensen, environmental consultant, and experienced botanist. Being able to identify native plants in the winter is a fun adventure and not as diffiicult as one might think. Join Sage along with fellow plant lovers for a fun afternoon . Easy to access study materials provided.There will be a field trip to a nearby SOLVE restoration site. Let's geek out together. Refreshments and snacks provided.

Spring Park Planting and Restoration Tour

Willamette Riverkeeper, North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District, the Island Station Neighborhood, and the North Clackamas Urban Watershed Council invite you to join us for a fall planting event at  Spring Park Natural Area. The park is currently undergoing a major restoration to both the trail system and the Willamette River side channel adjacent to the park. This planting event will be your first opportunity to see all the major improvements and learn more about this details of this exciting restoration project. Ultimately, the project will be of great benefit to fish, wildlife, and our community- and this is your chance to get involved by helping us to plant the old trail!

When: Saturday, 11/21 from 9:00am - 12:00pm

Details: Please wear sturdy and shoes, dress for the weather and bring water! Gloves and other planting tool supplies will be provided. By volunteering at this event you will receive a discount on dinner at Amadeus Manor.  All ages and abilities are welcome to attend, and better yet, lunch will be provided by Cha-Cha-Cha!
