Council Creek is home to beaver, Red-shouldered hawks, crayfish and native fish. Volunteers will be planting this 6 acre wetland restoration site with native willow, Oregon ash, as well as native shrubs including red-osier dogwood and douglas spirea.Volunteers will also be installing coffee bags as weed barriers, placing mice guards around trees, and mulching. Native plants will help to filter stormwater, and support fish and willdife habitat.

Dahl Park Community Planting Day

Dahl Beach is located at the confluence of the Clackamas and Willamette rivers. The confluence is an important location for both juvenile and adult salmon. Osprey can often be seen in the area. This native tree planting project is part of a larger stream restoration project initiated by the Clackamas River Basin Council. Volunteers will be planting native trees like western red cedar, and native shrubs like salmonberry and indian plum. Volunteers will also be mulching and installing live willow stakes. Native plantings help filter pollutants, provide shade, and improve fish and wildlife habitat.

Fairview Heron Pointe Community Planting Day

Heron Pointe Wetland is degraded by the presence of an invasive grass:reed canary grass. Volunteers will be planting native willow, Oregon ash as well as naitve shrubs like douglas spirea. Volunteers will also be installing coffee bags as a weed barrier and mulching. Native plants will add needed biodiversity improving the overall health of the wetland.

Molalla River Cleanup & Enhancement

Volunteers meet at Feyrer Park for registration then disperse to the beautiful Molalla River Corridor and other public river access sites near Molalla. Activities include trash cleanup along the Molalla River, planting native trees and shrubs, removing invasive weeds, or trailwork on the Molalla River Corridor Shared-use non-motorized trail system. There will be a BBQ back at Feyrer Park in the afternoon for all volunteers. Activities include: Invasive Plant Removal, Litter Cleanup, Native Planting, Maintenance & Monitoring, Trail work.

Vermont Creek Community Planting Day

Vermont Creek is located in southwest Portland and is a tributary of Fanno Creek. Vermont Creek is home to native fish, lamprey and cavity nesting birds including a variety of owls. Volunteers will be planting native trees including red alder, western red cedar as well as native shrubs like snowberry. Volunteers will also be mulching. Planting native trees and shrubs will provide shade, prevent erosion and improve fish and wildlife habitat.

Hillsdoer Day

This site at Glencoe High School is a SOLVE Green Team site where students have removed more than an acre of Himalayan blackberry and planted hundreds of native plants. The final steps in retoring the site are removal of some invasive weeds and in-fill planting of native shrubs. The site borders are large wetland complex. On the opposite side of the wetlands neighbors are working hard to enhance the wetlands edge, removing invasive vegetation and planting native trees and shrubs. Volunteers will weed, mulch, and plant native vegetation.

Forest Glen Park Gales Creek Community Planting Day

Forest Glen Park is located in Forest Grove. The park follows a small tributary stream of Gales Creek, and important stream for salmon habitat in the Tualatin River watershed. Volunteers will be planting both native trees and shrubs along the stream corridor. Native trees being planted include western red cedar, douglas fir and red alder. Native vegetation provides shade to the stream, prevents erosion and supports fish and wildlife habitat.Volunteers will plant native plants and mulch.
