Restoring headwater habitat, the habitat at the source of a river or stream, is an important part of the waterway restoration process. Wilkes Creek flows into the Columbia Slough, so its protection is part of a greater effort to keep the Slough healthy. We'll plant native plants and protect them with mulch. We'll also care for previously planted plants by weeding and mulching and removing invasive species like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry.

Students in our SERVE (Students Engaged in Restoring Vital Ecosystems) program have adopted this site for their field science experience. Parents and students are encouraged to visit the site again during this event!

This event runs rain or shine! Be sure to dress for the weather and bring water, rain gear and sturdy shoes. Snacks, tools, training and gloves will be provided.

Join us for this unique volunteering opportunity!

Did you know that Smith and Bybee wetlands is the largest urban wetland in the United States? We'll be planting local bioswales with native plants. Bioswales are special plantings designed to filter city runoff after a large rain event. They help clean water of pollutants before it enters the wetlands. Cool! Learn more and help out today.

It's time to volunteer!

Volunteer to continue restoring Kelley Point Park with native species that provide habitat for native creatures and improve water quality! With your help, we've planted, mulched and cared for dozens of natives in the park over the last several years. For this event, we'll focus on removing invasive species and planting natives. We'll care for existing plants by adding mulch to help them retain moisture.

Students from our SERVE (Students Engaged in Restoring Vital Ecosystems) program have adopted this site and are actively helping us to restore the area while learning field science skills. Students and parents are welcome to join us as volunteers, too!

Help Columbia Springs, a non-profit environmental education center, in maintaining their recreational and educational facilities while having fun! This volunteer event features projects of every kind, to suit volunteers of every age and ability. Learn about nature in your own backyard and spend the morning in a beautiful outdoor setting. The day will end with an activity; previous activities have included planting flower seeds to take home, weaving baskets from English ivy, and guided hatchery tours. But we need volunteers like YOU to make this happen!

Join the Clackamas River Basin  Council and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife on Saturday, October 17 at Fishers Bend in Damascus. Help gift salmon with new feeding grounds, shady spots, resting areas from fast currents, as well as hiding places from predators -- all by placing over 200 donated Christmas trees in a recently constructed alcove.

Volunteers are needed to carry, tie, and secure trees among recently constructed large wood structures installed in an alcove just off the Clackamas River, which will help enhance stream habitat for young salmon.
