Join Washington Trails Association (WTA) volunteers for a morning of giving back to trails with this 1/2 day work party.  WTA offers a series of Saturday events aimed at engaging youth and families in near-town stewardship projects. But the "Young at Heart" are welcome too. These events are on every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at parks and trails nearby.

This Saturday the crew will be at Whipple Creek Regional Park restoring and rerouting a trail.

WTA provides all tools and instruction plus post work party refreshments. No prior experience with trail work needed, just a willingness to lend a hand.

Stewardship Saturday at Columbia Springs

Have fun and help out at Columbia Springs! We will work on several projects around our site and end with a fun activity. Projects may include gardening, painting, trail maintenance, and more. Weed the Wetlands! Invasive Removal at Ridgefield NWR

We will be pulling Ricefield Bulrush, an invasive plant. Ricefield Bulrush threatens the health of Refuge wetlands by pushing out native plants that wildlife need for food and cover. Due to volunteer efforts, ricefield bulrush on the refuge is being contained and reduced. Volunteers will be able to set foot in areas of the refuge which are normally closed to the public.

 

All work days are from 9AM - 12:30PM, Rain or shine. Wear waterproof shoes and dress for the weather. Meet by the visitor kiosk in the River 'S' Unit. Gloves, snacks, and drinks will be provided to keep you fueled up. Registration is encouraged, but not required. From I-5 southbound take exit 1D for 4th Plain Blvd. Head west on 4th Plain Blvd for about 1.5 miles. 4th Plain will take you over the railroad tracks, then just past the intersection with Fruit Valley Rd. merge right onto NW Erwin O Reiger Memorial Hwy. After about 3 miles stay straight to head north along the western edge of the lake going past Vancouver Lake Regional Park for another 1/2 mile. We'll meet at an unmarked white gate on the right side of the road next to a very large Oak tree.

We are very happy to continue our partnership with the City of Hillsboro, REI, and Clean Water Services to help restore the wetland complex of Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve.
